In 2008, I led a group of 10 college students for a 3-week service learning trip to Uganda. Our major service project was latrine building. We worked alongside village residents and completed the framework for 9 latrines.
My daughter, as part of her Girl Scout Bronze project, collected 150 lbs of clothes that were donated to a village of children who had been orphaned by AIDS.
She also raised money to purchase 5 pigs that were donated to an animal husbandry project.
